Ginevra / Svizzera

Ginevra è un comune svizzero di 200 548 abitanti del Canton Ginevra; ha lo status di città ed è la capitale del cantone. È la seconda città più popolata e la seconda piazza finanziaria della Svizzera dopo Zurigo, ma la terza piazza economica in generale dopo Basilea, situata dove il Lago di Ginevra riconfluisce nel fiume Rodano. Nel 2019 Ginevra è stata classificata da Mercer, insieme a Zurigo e Basilea, tra le dieci città più vivibili al mondo.

Musée d'art et d'histoire di Ginevra

Il Musée d'art et d'histoire di Ginevra è uno dei tre maggiori musei della Svizzera e l'unico a possedere una così ampia varietà di collezioni: in particolare l'archeologia, le belle arti e le arti applicate. Nacque nel 1910 dall'unione di alcuni musei cittadini e dalle donazioni di collezionisti, fondazioni e cittadini. Il museo è pieno di grandi opere, ne conta più di 650 000, su un'area espositiva di circa 7000 m2. Sono presenti dipinti, sculture, stampe, oggetti storici e archeologici, testimonianze che rivelano i vari aspetti dell'evoluzione dell'arte e della vita quotidiana nei millenni.

Museo del Petit Palais di Ginevra

Il Museo del Petit Palais di Ginevra è un museo privato che custodisce opere impressioniste e post-impressioniste di pittura e scultura, oltre ad una ricca collezione di disegni. Inaugurato nel 1968, dal 1998 il museo è chiuso, ma le opere vengono prestate ad altri musei per esposizioni temporanee sotto la dicitura Les amis du Petit Palais.

The Bibliothèque de Genève , founded in 1559, was known as Bibliothèque publique et universitaire from 1907 to 2006. It occupies different buildings around the city: the main site in Parc des Bastions, the Musée Voltaire, La Musicale and the Centre d’iconographie. It also manages the library in Villa La Grange.It focuses on the humanities and the social sciences with special emphasis on the Reformation, the Enlightenment and Genevensia .

Musée Ariana

The Musée Ariana, also known as the Musée suisse de la céramique et du verre , is a museum in Geneva, Switzerland. It is devoted to ceramic and glass artwork, and contains around 20,000 objects from the last 1,200 years, representing the historic, geographic, artistic and technological breadth of glass and ceramic manufacture during this time. The collection is the only one of its kind in Switzerland.Built between 1877 and 1884, the museum is shaped by Neo-Classical and Neo-Baroque elements and is situated on Avenue de la Paix, near the Palace of Nations. It was built to house the private collection of the Swiss art collector and patron Gustave Revilliod, who named it after his mother, Ariane de la Rive, and later bequeathed it to the city of Geneva. Since 1934 the museum has been a member of Geneva's association of art and history museums, Les Musées d'art et d'histoire Geneve, led by the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire. Subsequently, parts of the collection have been dispatched to other museums while the Musée Ariana has acquired new exhibits in exchange, in order to focus the collection on glass and ceramics.In 1993 the museum was reopened after 12 years of building work.
