A Crimson Silhouette

A figure draped in a red hooded robe dominates the frame. The fabric carries a painted face, a mask upon a mask. One hand reaches out, pointing toward a distant, unseen horizon. Behind this central presence, a solid red wall creates a shallow, heavy space. The composition feels tight, pressing the subject toward the viewer.

The scene is scattered with quiet, strange objects that disrupt the stillness:

The Weight of the Image

The palette is dark, yet it pulses with warm sunset tones. These colors bleed into one another, creating a sense of heat within the shadows. The intensity is high, making the red of the robe feel heavy and thick. It is a portrait of a person, but the presence of the painted face on the garment suggests a fractured identity. The objects—the glass, the clocks, the spheres—act as anchors in a dreamlike arrangement. They are small, concrete details in a larger, unsettling geometry.

The work carries the tension of a street-side mural brought into a portrait format. It holds the energy of the 13th arrondissement in Paris, where its colors meet the urban light. There is a sense of looking at something that was meant to be seen on a massive scale, now compressed into a singular, intense gaze. The pointing finger remains fixed on a point beyond the edge of the canvas.
