Cristóbal de Araque y Ponce de León, natural de Pamplona, ingresó de colegial a San Bartolomé, en 1631. Obtuvo los grados de bachiller en Artes, maestro en Filosofía, licenciado y doctor en Sagrada Teología, en 1639. Ascendió a provisor y vicario general del Arzobispado, en 1653; luego a racionero de la Catedral, en 1658. A raíz del pleito con los dominicos, se le nombra rector perpetuo del Colegio y su agente en la Corte. Allí logra la aprobación y publicación de las Constituciones, así como el fallo favorable a los intereses del Colegio. Murió en Madrid.
