The Vestiges of Le Suquet
Perched upon the heights of the historic district of Cannes, the Musée des Explorations du Monde occupies the remains of a medieval castle once belonging to the monks of Lérins. This site, a classified historical monument, overlooks the bay and the Îles de Lérins from the old quarter of Le Suquet. The architecture is defined by the stone structures of the Tour de la Castre and the surrounding courtyard, where the history of the Mediterranean is physically present in the masonry. These areas are used for both public viewing and private events. The museum is currently scheduled for renovation, with a planned closure from 14 September to 30 October 2026. During regular hours, the institution operates from Tuesday to Sunday, with extended evening hours on Wednesdays.
