Derby DAR-bee) is a city and unitary authority area in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire, of which it was traditionally the county town. Derby gained city status in 1977, and by the 2011 census its population was 248,700.
Derby was settled by Romans – who established the town of Derventio – Saxons and Vikings, who made Derby one of the Five Boroughs of the Danelaw. Initially a market town, Derby grew rapidly in the industrial era. Home to Lombe's Mill, an early British factory, Derby has a claim to be one of the birthplaces of the Industrial Revolution. It contains the southern part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. With the arrival of the railways in the 19th century, Derby became a centre of the British rail industry.
Derby is a centre for advanced transport manufacturing, being home to the world's second largest aero-engine manufacturer: Rolls-Royce. Bombardier Transportation are based at the Derby Litchurch Lane Works and were for many years the UK's only train manufacturers. Toyota Manufacturing UK's automobile headquarters is southwest of the city at Burnaston. To the east lies Nottingham, separated by the M1 motorway.

Charlecote Park is a grand 16th-century country house, surrounded by its own deer park, on the banks of the River Avon in Charlecote near Wellesbourne, about 4 miles east of Stratford-upon-Avon and 5.5 miles south of Warwick, Warwickshire, England. It has been administered by the National Trust since 1946 and is open to the public. It is a Grade I listed building.

Wycombe Museum is a free local museum located in the town of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. It is run by Wycombe Heritage and Arts Trust, as of 1 December 2016. It was previously run by Wycombe District Council.

The museum presents exhibitions the history of the local area, including the furniture industry, especially chair-making. There are also displays of Windsor chairs, lace, art and natural history.
The Pier Arts Centre is an art gallery and museum in Stromness, Orkney, Scotland. It was established in 1979 to provide a home for an important collection of fine art donated to "be held in trust for Orkney" by the author, peace activist and philanthropist Margaret Gardiner . Alongside the permanent collection the Centre curates a year-round programme of changing exhibitions and events for the education and enjoyment of the general public. Admission is free.
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Withington, Manchester, manages the Christie Hospital, one of the largest cancer treatment centres of its type in Europe. The Christie became a NHS Foundation Trust in 2007 and is also an international leader in cancer research and development, home to the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research.
El Museo Nacional de Capodimonte es un museo de Nápoles, Italia, situado en el interior del palacio homónimo en la zona de Capodimonte, que alberga varias galerías de arte antiguo, una de arte contemporáneo y un apartamento histórico.
Fue inaugurado oficialmente como museo en 1957, aunque las salas del palacio han albergado obras de arte desde 1758. Conserva predominantemente pinturas, distribuidas principalmente en las dos colecciones principales, la Farnesio, de la que forman parte algunos grandes nombres de la pintura italiana e internacional como Rafael, Tiziano, Parmigianino, Brueghel el Viejo, El Greco, Ludovico Carracci o Guido Reni; y la Galería Napolitana, que se compone de obras provenientes de iglesias de la ciudad y de sus alrededores, transportadas a Capodimonte por razones de seguridad tras las supresiones de las órdenes religiosas, y cuenta con obras de artistas como Simone Martini, Colantonio, Caravaggio, Ribera, Luca Giordano o Francesco Solimena. También es importante la colección de arte contemporáneo, en la que destaca Vesuvius de Andy Warhol.[3]
El Ospedale degli Innocenti fue un orfanato de niños de Florencia, diseñado por Filippo Brunelleschi,[1][2] quien recibió el encargo en 1419. Está considerado un notable ejemplo de la arquitectura del primer renacimiento italiano. El hospital, con una galería frente a la Plaza della Santissima Annunziata, fue construido y dirigido por el "Arte della Seta" o Gremio de la Seda de Florencia.[3] Este gremio era uno de los más ricos de la ciudad y, como la mayor parte de las cofradías, asumía obligaciones filantrópicas.
En el extremo izquierdo del pórtico está la ruota, un torno de piedra para meter al niño en el edificio sin que se viera al padre. Esto permitía a la gente abandonar a sus hijos anónimamente, para que fueran cuidados en el orfanato. Este sistema siguió funcionando hasta el cierre del hospital en 1875.[3] Hoy el edificio aloja un pequeño museo de arte renacentista.
El Museo Toulouse-Lautrec es un museo que se encuentra en Albi, Francia.
El edificio en el que se encuentra es el Palacio de la Berbie, edificio medieval fortificado que era la antigua residencia episcopal. En 1905 pasó a ser de propiedad pública, y en 1907 se cedió al Ayuntamiento de Albi. En 2012 se culminaron unos profundos trabajos de remodelación del museo, que requirieron doce años.[1]
Este museo destaca sobre todo por su enorme colección de obras del pintor Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec: suman unas mil entre pinturas, dibujos, carteles, etc. Muchas fueron donadas por la familia y otras son producto de adquisiciones posteriores y préstamos del Museo de Orsay de París. Además, hay una serie de objetos relacionados con el artista, entre ellos su famoso bastón, que escondía un vaso y un depósito para brandy.
No obstante, también hay obras de artistas antiguos, como Francesco Guardi o Georges de La Tour, y están representados asimismo pintores contemporáneos de Toulouse-Lautrec como Édouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis o Paul Sérusier.
Cuenta además con una colección arqueológica, otra numismática y piezas relacionadas con las ciencias naturales.
El Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune, u Hospicio de Beaune, es un antiguo hospicio, ubicado en Beaune, Francia, y fundado en 1443 por Nicolas Rolin, canciller del Ducado de Borgoña, como un hospital para gente sin recursos . El edificio original, uno de los más destacados ejemplos de arquitectura francesa del siglo XV, es hoy en día un museo.
Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College features works by American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Delaware Art Museum is an art museum located on the Kentmere Parkway in Wilmington, Delaware, which holds a collection of more than 12,000 objects. The museum was founded in 1912 as the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts in honor of the artist Howard Pyle. The collection focuses on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century, and on the English Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood movement of the mid-19th century.
The museum building was expanded and renovated in 2005 and includes a 9-acre Sculpture Park, the Helen Farr Sloan Library and Archives, studio art classes, a children's learning area, as well as a cafe and museum store.
