Le Monastère de Saint-Jean des Rois de Tolède est un monastère de l’Ordre franciscain, qui fut construit sous le patronage de la reine Isabelle Ire de Castille afin d’en faire un mausolée royal, en commémoration de la bataille de Toro et de la naissance du prince Jean. Il est l'un des exemples les plus éclatants du style gothique isabélin en Espagne et le bâtiment le plus important érigé par les Rois Catholiques. Le monastère est aussi un mémorial pour les réalisations des Rois Catholiques et leur programme politique
Le musée préfectoral d'art de Miyazaki ouvre ses portes à Miyazaki au Japon en octobre 1995. La collection s'intéresse aux artistes originaires ou associés à la préfecture de Miyazaki et inclut également des œuvres de Picasso, Klee et Magritte.
The State Library of New South Wales, part of which is known as the Mitchell Library, is a large heritage-listed special collections, reference and research library open to the public. It is the oldest library in Australia, being the first established in the colony of New South Wales in 1826. The library is located on the corner of Macquarie Street and Shakespeare Place, in the Sydney central business district adjacent to the Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens, in the City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The library is a member of the National and State Libraries Australia consortium.
The State Library of New South Wales building was designed by Walter Liberty Vernon, assisted by H. C. L. Anderson and was built from 1905 to 1910, with further additions by Howie Bros in 1939; by FWC Powell & Sons in 1959; and by Mellocco Bros in 1964. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The originally all-girls' school Mills College was founded by Susan and Cyrus Mills, who were both interested in art and history. Susan's sister Jane Tolman was an art historian who developed the art history curriculum in 1875. With a Tolman Mills bequest the present museum building was constructed in 1925 called the Mills College Art Gallery. Albert M. Bender, the Mills College Trustee chiefly responsible for the museum's completion, also made a gift of 40 paintings and 75 prints by contemporary San Francisco Bay Area artists, and since then the gallery has become an important public collection of modern art in Northern California. Bender himself later became a principal founder of what is now the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

The Meffan Institute is a museum and art gallery in Forfar, Angus. It houses a variety of exhibits of local interest in Angus, including a collection of Pictish stones, particularly the Dunnichen Stone and the Kirriemuir Sculptured Stones as well as Roman and Medieval artefacts found in the local area. A reconstruction of historic scenes of Forfar includes representations of daily life as it would have been around the beginning of the 19th century, as well as a depiction of the execution of one of the women accused of witchcraft in the Forfar witch hunts of 1661-1666.

L'entreprise de filature et de tissage de la laine de Charles Seydoux, créée au XIXe siècle et fermée en 1981, participa à la notoriété de la commune ; elle alla jusqu'à employer plusieurs milliers d'ouvriers.
Le Cateau est également connue pour son musée consacré au peintre Henri Matisse, natif de la ville, créé en 1952 par le peintre lui-même et installé aujourd'hui dans l'ancien palais Fénelon.
