Tucson est une ville américaine, au deuxième rang des villes les plus peuplées de l'État de l'Arizona après sa capitale, Phoenix. La ville se situe à 188 km au sud de Phoenix et à 98 km de la ville de Nogales, le long de la frontière américano-mexicaine. D'après le recensement fédéral de 2010 , sa population était de 520 116 habitants et l'agglomération 980 263 habitants ce qui en fait la 33e ville et la 52e métropole des États-Unis. Tucson est le siège du comté de Pima et de l'université de l'Arizona. Plusieurs villes font partie de la grande banlieue de Tucson. Les principales sont Oro Valley et Marana au nord-ouest , Sahuarita au sud et South Tucson enclavée au cœur de la ville. De plus, un certain nombre de communautés gravitent autour de la cité : Casas Adobes, Catalina, Catalina Foothills, Flowing Wells, Green Valley, Tanque Verde, New Pascua, Vail et Benson. La ville est également entourée de montagnes, au nord les monts Santa Catalina, à l'est les monts Rincon au sud les monts Santa Rita et à l'ouest les monts Tucson. Le point le plus haut de la région est le mont Wrightson dans les monts Santa Rita qui culmine à 2 881 m, dépassant ainsi le mont Lemmon d'environ 91 m. Le nom anglais de la ville provient de l'ancien nom espagnol de la ville, Tucsón , emprunté du nom o'odham Cuk Ṣon , voulant dire « base de la noire », en référence à un volcan situé à proximité du site. Tucson est également surnommée « The Old Pueblo ».

The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block is an art museum and art education institution located in the Presidio District of downtown Tucson, Arizona. The museum comprises 74,000-square-feet of exhibition space over a four-acre city block that includes a contemporary main museum and 19th C. historic homes that have been adapted for reuse as the Museum restaurant, pottery school, and galleries. The Museum concurrently presents eight to nine exhibitions including international and traveling exhibitions, TMA-curated exhibitions, and ongoing exhibitions of permanent collections. TMA's collection of more than 8,000 objects is focused on modern and contemporary art, Latin American, Western and Native American, and Asian art. The Museum has served as a community art education venue since its inception in 1924. Art education has continued as a major function of the Museum through museum staff and a docent organization that carries out education and outreach programs. The Museum's campus of landscaped plazas host community and private events including artisans markets, festivals, live performances, an annual Día de los Muertos event, weddings, high school proms, award ceremonies, and other community events. The Museum hosts Creative Space, an interactive space for children and families. The Museum campus includes Cafe a la C'Art, a full-service restaurant and bakery that was ranked one of the top museum restaurants in the United States by Food & Wine Magazine. and the Museum Store, featuring original art and craft work by local and regional artists and artisans. In 2015, the Tucson Museum of Art was named one of the Top Western Art Museums in the United States by True West magazine.

University of Arizona Museum of Art

The University of Arizona Museum of Art is an art museum in Tucson, Arizona, operated by the University of Arizona. The museum's permanent collection includes more than 6,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings with an emphasis on European and American fine art from the Renaissance to the present. The museum is located on the UA's campus near Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard. Admission is free to UA students, faculty, and staff with student ID. It is part of "the Museum Neighborhood," a cluster of four museums within walking distance of each other; the other three museums are the Center for Creative Photography, Arizona State Museum, and Arizona Historical Society .
