Chichester / Regno Unito

Chichester è una città del Regno Unito, nella contea inglese del West Sussex. Chichester ha una cattedrale, che è l'unica in Inghilterra ad avere un campanile distaccato. Era nota ai Romani come Noviomagus Reginorum. Città costruita dai Romani, Chichester è costituita da un centro città incantevole, formato da quattro strade principali: North, South, East e West street, che si incontrano nel monumento del Cross. Altrettanto suggestivi sono i Pallant, che si dividono anch’essi in North, South, East e West Pallant. Oltre al centro città, Chichester gode anche della presenza della magnifica cattedrale, che si trova in West street, e che è visitabile gratuitamente. Nel giardino del luogo sacro capita spesso di vedere dei fotografi professionisti, che con le loro apparecchiature professionali, tentano di fotografare i falchi pellegrini, sembra infatti che ci siano ben tre esemplari.

The University of Chichester is a public university located in West Sussex, England, which became a university in 2005. Campuses are based in the city of Chichester and the nearby coastal resort of Bognor Regis and an associate campus for commercial music on the Isle of Wight.The University of Chichester has 14 departments, with specialisms including Humanities, Sport, Musical Theatre and Education. Its heritage stretches back into the nineteenth century when, in 1839, Bishop Otter College was established. Since 2013, both campuses have seen major expansion-led building works through National Lottery funding and other funding. The University of Chichester is a member of The Cathedrals Group.

The Novium

The Novium is a museum in Chichester, West Sussex, southern England. The name comes from the Roman name for the city, Noviomagus Reginorum.The museum, designed by the architect Keith Williams following an architectural design competition managed by RIBA Competitions, has an area of 1,300 sq m which is approximately 2.4 times the size of the previous museum in Little London. The building is divided into three floors each of which will contain a gallery for exhibition. It contains a research and learning room as well as a collection store for the social history collection. The museum is built directly over the top of the Chichester's Roman Bath House complex which are displayed in the ground floor gallery.The museum has over 350,000 objects of geological, archaeological and social historic interest. The social history and geological collections is made up of some 50,000 objects which are housed within the new building, whilst the archaeological collection is contained in a purpose built store within the Discovery Centre located at Fishbourne Roman Palace.The museum was opened on 8 July 2012.
